Olivado’s journey began with a global search for the best place to grow avocados that would meet our high standards of quality and sustainability. After careful consideration, we discovered that Kenya’s Central Highlands offered the perfect environment for cultivating avocados.
In 2007, we initiated a pilot project near Nairobi, partnering with smallholder farmers—mainly women—across Kenya. Today, we work with almost 2,000 farmers, supporting them through fair trade, empowering them to improve their livelihoods, and making a significant contribution to the local economy.
Our factory, staffed by Kenyans, processes avocados for export to international markets, producing 90% of the world’s organic extra virgin avocado oil. This has created hundreds of direct and thousands of indirect jobs, enhancing the lives of farmers and their communities.
